ADT Medical Alert In-Depth Review

Overview

ADT Medical Alert offers quality in-home and mobile medical alert systems for a fair price with no long-term contracts. This well-known company has earned a strong reputation for its security systems, video surveillance, and communication systems. ADT products include several different options for both in-home and mobile alert systems along with fall detection. They also have home temperature monitoring that automatically detects unusually low and high temperatures. With this service, ADT will notify family members if the temperature is at an unsafe level in the home from the base unit location.

Cost

Customers can choose between three different pricing options. The Basic Plan comes with an in-home alert system that costs $26.99 per month. You can upgrade to the Plus Plan for $32.99 per month which offers an extended range of 600 feet on devices and doesn’t require a landline connection. The On-The-Go Emergency Response System costs $36.99 per month and provides an in-home and mobile personal alert system with GPS location possibilities. Pendant and wristband options are available for all three plans while Fall Detection pendants are available for the Plus and On-The-Go at an extra cost. There are no equipment fees for any of the plans.

Contract

ADT Medical Alert offers flexible terms with no long-term contracts. This flexibility alongside the fact that your monthly price will remain the same forever means that ADT Medical Alert is committed to providing you top-notch service for as long as you need them.

Equipment

ADT Medical Alert sells a variety of equipment for both in-home and mobile alert systems. For the home, you have the option of either a device that connects to the landline or one that has a cellular connection. The basic landline connection only has a 300 ft. range, but the Plus device offers slightly more at 600 ft. The On-the-Go mobile connection device with GPS allows for emergency alerts for inside and outside the house.

ADT also offers high-tech fall detection with the Plus and On-the-Go devices. Their in-home devices also come with an impressive service that can detect unusually high or low temperatures that may indicate a medical emergency. Plans include the option of a water-resistant wristband or waterproof pendant with the option to add more accessories. ADT offers free replacements whenever the equipment's battery runs on low or dead.

Most Commonly Asked Questions About Medical Alerts
Medical alert systems are lifesaving devices that bring peace of mind to seniors and people of all ages who live alone and have medical conditions which may require emergency assistance.
Not sure which medical alert system is right for you? Find the answers to the most important questions about medical alert systems below to get started.
Who is the medical alert monitoring service right for?
Medical alert systems make sense for seniors and people of all ages that live alone or spend long periods of time alone and may require emergency medical assistance. This can include those with medical conditions such as epilepsy, stroke, seizures, heart conditions, or those with a history of falling. In the event of an emergency situation, the person can quickly contact operators to have them dispatch police, ambulance, or firefighters or alert designated caregivers and contacts.
How do medical alerts work?
Most medical alert companies provide a small button that can be worn as either a necklace, a bracelet/watch, or something that can be clipped onto a belt. In the event of a medical emergency, personal alert systems allow the user to quickly get in touch with someone to send help with the push of a button. The medical alert operator can converse with you via a two-way speaker system and will be prepared with all the important contacts including family, friends, physicians, etc. for effective and fast assistance in the event of an emergency. The operators can also dispatch emergency professionals such as the police, paramedics, or firefighters when necessary.
What kind of devices do medical alert systems include?
Medical alert solutions will offer a range of different devices that allow the user to instantly get help in case of a medical emergency. Medical alert systems offer different types of devices for at-home or on-the-go mobile alerts. One thing you should consider when buying a medical alert system is whether you want an in-home or mobile system. At-home systems usually connect to a landline but do not require one. For more active users, the mobile alert systems provide GPS-enabled systems with an unlimited range.
What are some important features to look for?
Water Resistance: Don't worry about getting your device wet while doing dishes or washing your hands with a water-resistant medical alert device. You can also have it nearby when showering in case of a fall.
- Lightweight: Make sure the device is comfortable to wear, so it won't be a nuisance to you.
- Battery Life: A device with a long battery life requires less maintenance and is more reliable in case of an emergency.
- Range: The device is useless if you have a medical emergency outside of the range distance because the signal won't reach the main station.
- Fall Detection: Most companies offer a fall detection feature for an additional monthly fee. The device will sense a fall and automatically contact the dispatch center like it would when the button is pushed.
